A conversation with Mr. Jim Paredes (Part 2)

  1. WoW! You must have been very proud seeing these Talents shining very BRIGHT. Anyhow, you are undoubtedly very true, there are some people (you can easily identify) very eager for fame and fortune. One reason for this is due to their family’s capacity to leave normal…normal in a sense that they can put their children to education and giving them enough allowance in day-to-day activity inside and outside the campus. You might wonder why I know this kind of things, because my family is one of those lucky unfortunate people.

Lucky because I wouldn’t be independent if it wasn’t for these challenges in our family. I became a full scholar for 4 years in high school so that my parents won’t feel the burden of money. I worked for 3 years in College in the Library to minimize expenses in my Tuition Fee.

Soon, I’ll be graduating and boy I can’t wait. I just hope all the miracles and destinies will fall into me in order for my family to surpass this burden.

  1. rabsin_d–go for it. I was like you–a scholar with very meager means and I think the ‘poverty’ made me sucessful.

Writing on Air My: musings and random thoughts

HUMMING IN MY UNIVERSE - Jim Paredes

A singer. An artist. A writer.

An overwhelming conversation just happened with Mr. Jim Paredes last July 7, 2008 between 6:53 am to 7:11 am about life, dream, and struggle:

  1. Ciao Mr. Jim, Just finish reading your article and it just breaks my heart that all of the things that you wrote is quite true, ufortunately. Maybe that’s the reason why God gave us talents to share, and intelligence to spread. Yes, I am one of those desperate people who joined the PDA Season 2 Audition (Cebu) for the reason of minimizing our financial burden. However, I only managed to be on the Top 20, but life does’nt end their. You need to struggle for survival, that is what life is about.

By the way, I’m Ricky de la Cruz, from Dumaguete City and my dad is your number one fan…Lolz! If you have time, try to check my blog: http://finlust.blogspot.com/

  2. Hey Ricky,

PDA is not the only way to achieve your dreams. I had my share of rejections when I was starting, and even when I had a career going. Hang in here and show that your dream is powerful enough to alter reality.

Princess–As I always say, JUST DO IT!

    Kenjebz–thanks

A Story of Mr. Montenegro

Mr. Montenegro is my current teacher in our Religion 61 class, which is all about Ethics. Just this morning, he told us a very shocking revelation that he experienced during his college life. It was an experience he will never forget.

He was an Agriculture student then, and accidentally impregnated his girlfriend who was a Muslim Senior student. They planned to abort the child because they were not ready; in addition, he might get 'killed' if the girl's parent will know that the girl is pregnant. (Oh boy...)

During the abortion, they identified that the child was a girl, and everytime Mr. Montenegro thinks about the scenario, he would cry but he don't know why (maybe because of the guilt).

Now, Mr. Montenegro is very happy with his life and his lovely wife, and his ex-girl friend is also very happy with her life and her husband who is currently an attorney. However, what is very interesting is that all their children are men...Hmmm, coincidence or karma...?

Well for me, it was definitely unethical. However, I appreciated and I idolize Mr. Montenegro for telling his story. It was definitely a bad experience, but this is what life is all about. Make mistakes, learn from it, and try not to do it again. Anyhow, I made this because I know Mr. Montenegro wants you guys to learn something in his experience, just as what he want us to learn.

This is my simple tribute for Mr. Montenegro, a person who went on with his life, learning from his experiences and spreading it to his students so that wise decisions will occur in the society.
