Get your pets ready for the year’s rip-roaringly grand Pet Expo, happening at the Persimmon Plus on August 24 – 26, 2012.
The Persimmon Plus, in Mabolo, Cebu City, is the commercial and entertainment strip of The Persimmon, Cebu’s first urban village created by AboitizLand, Inc. The Persimmon Plus has built its reputation as one of the metro’s pet-friendly destinations, hosting the yearly Pet Expo for the third year now. It has also been declared Pet-Friendly District.
Geofel Labendia, Marketing Officer of AboitizLand’s Commercial Leasing and Marketing Team says, "The Persimmon Plus hosts events like the Pet Expo to help enhance and nurture.” Better understanding and more knowledge on responsible pet ownership are the aims of The Persimmon Plus Pet Expo 2012.
The Expo includes a series of talks, including discussions by the Island Rescue Organization (IRO), a dog owners’ association, and the Cebu Veterinary Office. The latter includes information on dogs for adoption on
August 24.
IRO, Cebu South Dog Club, Asian Beta Alliance for Fighting Fishes, Cebu ShihTzu Club, Cebu Association of Spiders, Cebu Cavy for Guinea Pigs, Gecko Society, Pitbull Club, Chowchow Club, Siberian Husky Club, Exotic Birds Society and Tracy Go – Great Dane will be mounting the Expo’s centerpiece - a running exhibition of pets of all types and talents. The Cebu City Veterinary Office will also be giving free anti-rabies
vaccinations and grooming for the duration of the Expo.
For the the winged ones, August 25 is a date for our feathered pets. Falconry, the exotic birds society of Cebu, will show off what their pets can do in a gallant exhibition of tricks.
On August 26, the Expo rolls out the red carpet for the Pit Bull Competition, the search for the metro’s Best Female and Male Puppy, Best Puppy in Show, Best Female and Male Adult Overall and Best in Show terriers of this hybrid. The day is capped with an open Fun Match.
According to Labendia, "Our goal is to gather the pet lovers so they may share information. We provide them the venue for that and the venue where they may also have quality time with their precious animal friends. The
Pet Expo is one fun-filled day for pet owners – and those who would one day like to become like them!”
Registration for all activities will be at The Persimmon Plus. To register, please present your pet’s updated health card to show date of birth and the immunizations already given. Dog owners who will be joining the
Pit Bull Competition are required to attend the dog show briefing and show standards forum on August 24. Participants will be given a Pet Kit with free dog food sample and accessories.
Various grooming stuff will also be available for the three-day event.
