Love and Wait

Love and Wait
To me love is not a conquest, much less one conquest after another. Conquest denotes subjugation, a submission to a more powerful will. You do not make a person submit to your will and mold her as you see fit to make her more lovable in your eyes. You love her for what she is. You do not gloss over her imperfections, you learn to live with her flaws. You do not brag to your friends that she is yours for the taking, there's no place for 'braggadocio' in love. You wait instead anxiously for the next time she tells you she loves you, no matter if it may never happen and in the meantime the uncertainty is making you miserable. You do not lead her on with empty displays of affection. You do not boost her confidence using false praises, only to give her the ultimate put-down by taking her for a fool. You find your self speechless with admiration and fear that the slightest touch will betray the depth of your emotion. You do not cry foul when you see that the course of love has not gone according to your fervent wishes. You do not bawl at her, "how dare you tell me you love me, take my heart, and disappear from my life?" You do not demand the return of glorious days long past. You do not blame her for your shattered illusions and waylaid dreams and least of all your broken heart. Even in the lowest thoughts of self-pity and despair, you cannot bring yourself to cause her the slightest grief. You would rather die than give the slightest hint that she has anything to do with your unhappiness. Love bears all - maybe not always with a smile that's big enough for the world to see, BUT JUST ONE THAT'S BRAVE ENOUGH TO TELL HER IT'S OKAY...

You'll live so she doesn't have to feel bad. Love and rejection get in the same way.

LOVE IS NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED.

Love means different things to different people, different things at different times...

Like everything, love changes.

**quickmelt...

so when that person ceases to feel the same way, you can let it go...

-- I will wait for you to unlock the cage of your heart --

Would you?

well.. we can't really define love.. we can just simply describe it.. just like defining 1 over 0... dogma of human instinct of without question that passes intersubjectivity test.

Great post. Informative. I can feel something deep within you.. kick it out and let it go.

i love it when you said "You do not make a person submit to your will and mold her as you see fit to make her more lovable in your eyes."

and "you would rather die than give the slightest hint that she has anything to do with your unhappiness."

"love is not for the faint-hearted" and indeed its not because it takes all courage just to give even a part of your love to a stranger and even more strength to endure all the pain that comes with it. :) good write...

aw yes I agree that love is not for the faint-hearted because the magnitude of the emotion that love can bring can be so intense it can either make you high or bring you down to your lowest self.

I am speaking based more on observations rather than on actual experience as I myself have less encounters with the topic on hand. Though one thing is true and which I believe, that love should come out naturally and should not be produced out of intention. One should also be ready to make sacrifices, though one should also not completely lose oneself just for love.

It is complicated and can almost be undefined. It is a good emotion though and one cannot live without it.

Good luck with your adventures! :)

This post reminded me of Mike Francis' 'Room in your Heart' song.

Love is an uncontrollable feeling and there is no book or tutorial that can guide you about it. Love is not a fairytale. It is a commitment and both people involved should do that. There is a risk and you must be aware of the pros and cons before you divulge in it.

Love is sooooo unpredictable. The things we do for love is just amazing :D

okay... this article speaks exclusively of romantic love and I believe that's what you want me to make a remark on... so I will.

my take on this:

Love, to me, is basically a situation where you don't need to apologize.. where you wait with consciousness but without gauge of time length... where realism replaces romanticism... where glory and beauty aren't merely admired and praised, but appreciated...

Love is a situation where the body is accepted for what it is...

where intellect and spirit are mutually assisted with their growths...

Love is a situation that excludes obsession of any kind... two people can be very in love and both their worlds may revolve around each other, but obsession need not be present. Obsession is a different topic--outside love!

i just left a comment but somehow if failed posted... or did it?

anyway, i completely agree. i am a witness to a recent breakup of two people who truly epitomize this kind of love. even if the relationship ended by one leaving the other, the one who was left didn't foster hate, but instead wished the other party all the best.

this is the kind of love that we all deserve. :)

--this is so hard.

I've only been really in love once. That one time was everything and when you lose that you start searching until you get numb.

I'm still waiting, wishing, hoping for Love.

=)
