Intel Cebu Blogger Workshop 2010: Choosing the Right PC For You

One of the best events I've been, so far before this year will end, was the Intel Cebu Blogger Workshop 2010 at the Marriott Hotel. It was conducted by the Intel Microelectronics Philippines, Inc. where they aim to minimize or hopefully eliminate the hassle of waiting or what they call the Hourglass Syndrome. The Hourglass Syndrome
Remember those days where your computer was still Pentium 1 or or maybe Windows 98 and your Internet was still dial-up and you keep on seeing an hourglass telling you to please wait...not knowing if it's really going to give you any results or just wasting your time for nothing? If you do, then you have indubitably experienced the Hourglass Syndrome! I used to keep on telling myself why do we need to wait for the computer where in fact the computer should be the one waiting for us! That is why Intel wants to eliminate this syndrome and let the user dominate its functionalities at its best.

They also presented on how to choose the right PC for each specific user and the corresponding Processors that each user should have:

The Dabbler

The Dabbler uses technology to support their lifestyle. The Intel Core i3 Processor lets them watch videos, listen to music, and play games at the highest possible quality. They're not going to be editing your home movies anytime soon, but they're a good source for new music and weird viral videos.

The Gadgeteer

The Gadgeteer is into toys. They've got the gear and they're not afraid to use it. The Intel Core i5 Processor gives them the capacity to multi-task at top speed by allowing them to run multiple applications with no fear of freezing.

The Tech Whisperer

The Tech Whisperer knows things. They're on a sophisticated level. Their skills demand the power of the Intel Core i7 Processor. It automatically speeds up when they need extra boost or performance. so that they're free to be creative or solve the world's problem with their laptop or PC.

So how do you choose the right Intel Processor for your needs?

REMEMBER: Upgrading your processor is not a 'Do-it-Yourself' project.
  • It is expensive and needs expertise.
  • The cost and complexity in upgrading a processor makes it vital that you invest in the best processor you can afford when shopping for your new computer.
  • A better performing PC does not necessarily cause high power consumption. In fact, purchasing a computer with an Intel processor can result in greater performance and less power consumption. This also means longer battery life and greater mobility for laptop users.
So your decision needs to be based on your needs and how you intend to use it.
